Alec Doherty Jewellery

FAQ

Sustainability

All Alec Doherty jewellery is crafted from 100% recycled gold and silver with responsibly sourced gemstones and diamonds. Natural diamonds are sourced in line with the Kimberley Process, graded a minimum of VS1 clarity and F colour or higher, and certified by GIA. Laboratory-grown diamonds are certified by IGI to verify their quality and origin.
Pieces are hand-made — mostly to order — by skilled artisans in London and Birmingham to minimise waste and avoid overproduction, and all metal offcuts are recycled.

Ring Sizing

We recommend purchasing an adjustable ring sizer online.
Alternatively, measure the internal diameter of a ring that fits and send us the exact measurement (in mm), or visit a local jeweller for professional sizing.

For custom orders, we can arrange an in-person consultation, or post a ring sizer to you for remote consultations.

Order Lead Times

Most pieces are hand-made to order unless marked ready to ship.
Production time: approx. 3–5 weeks

In-stock items: dispatched same or next working day
Timings may vary depending on material availability.

Jewellery Care

Silver can react with skin acidity — often caused by cosmetics, perspiration, medication or pH levels. Gold is hypoallergenic and rarely tarnishes, but may dull if stored against other metals or left unworn.

We’re happy to professionally clean your jewellery.

Resizing

  • Client-supplied incorrect sizes incur a resizing fee (excluding shipping, duties or taxes)

  • One complimentary resize if measured in person by Alec Doherty

  • Notify us within 14 days of delivery

  • Adjustments usually limited to 2–3 sizes

  • Some designs cannot be resized

  • Rings can only be resized once

  • We reserve the right to decline a resize

Repairs

We may refuse repairs on pieces altered by another jeweller (including stones, sizing, chains or finish).

Faults due to craftsmanship are repaired free of charge (excluding postage, duties/taxes and handling).

Other repairs are available for an agreed fee.
