About
Alec Doherty emerged as a natural extension of Alec’s studio practice, a continuation of drawing and form into a more intimate, wearable scale. Each piece begins as a drawing before being translated through the craft and care of fine jewellery making. For Alec, jewellery offers another language through which to explore feeling and presence: a way of distilling ideas, moods and emotional undercurrents into something solid and enduring.
Made and hand-finished in Britain, every piece is shaped with character and a clear sense of intent, jewellery to be worn, lived with, loved, and allowed to gather its own stories over time.
STUDIO
Alec Doherty makes work that examines the subtle, often overlooked ways people interact. Working across pencil drawing, sculpture and jewellery, his practice is rooted in observation and a quiet attentiveness to human behaviour.
Raised in the north of England in a mixed-heritage household as the youngest of seven children, he developed an early sensitivity to group dynamics and individuality. A broad exposure to music, culture and differing perspectives continues to inform the atmosphere of his work.
He revisits everyday gestures and fleeting moments, reimagining them through material and form. Whether on paper, in sculpture or in precious metals, his work invites a slower looking, an attention to presence, memory and shared experience.
